It’s amazing what we can do when we work together for our children: $150k+ for art, music, science camp, field trips, gardens, JEDI books, intervention and more over the 22-23 school year! This month on our facebook page we’ve been sharing the impact at each of the ten school sites we support. Highlights are also shared here on our Schools page.
We hope that, if the impact SEF is making for our students speaks to you, you’ll support our work for the 23-24 school year, whether it’s part of #GivingTuesday or your end of year donations. Sunnyvale Ed Foundation is on your site and making a difference. #sunnyvaleedfoundationonyoursite.

The Exploratorium is a very cool place. You get to learn so much about science and play around with things that happen in the real world. It’s amazing that it all helps you learn!
We were super-happy to help San Miguel make this field trip possible for their students. They got to discover a new, neat place and learn about science while they were there. Thanks to everyone who donated who helped make this possible.

Waaayyyy back in October (two months ago!) we wrote a check to the school district to help pay for field trips for the four title 1 schools: Vargas, Bishop, San Miguel, and Lakewood. Field trips are super-important for learning, but getting the students out into the world can be expensive. Which is where we come in. We were able to get a grant to send students form the four title 1 schools in the district on field trips!
We’re happy that we were able to make a small difference in these students’ education.

Every fall, we offer free TB testing at two elementary schools in the district. Why? Because volunteers are the lifeblood of good schools in Sunnyvale, and you need a valid TB test in order to volunteer. This is a barrier for many people, who have problems making it to a doctor’s office. We are proud to be able to offer this,
This fall was no different. We provided TB testing services at two schools, San Miguel and Bishop Elementary Schools. We provided 65 tests across both schools, with the majority of people being tested having students at those schools. The tests are offered to people with children at any school in the district however, and parents from nine of the ten schools did sign up, so we should have an impact on volunteering throughout the district.
We’re exploring broadening the program to more schools in future years because it’s so successful. Look out for the announcement late next summer for the 2018 tests!
