It’s amazing what we can do when we work together for our children: $150k+ for art, music, science camp, field trips, gardens, JEDI books, intervention and more over the 22-23 school year! This month on our facebook page we’ve been sharing the impact at each of the ten school sites we support. Highlights are also shared here on our Schools page.

SEF has granted $102,000 this school year!

2022-23 SEF School Grants: $102k

SEF helps fulfill student enrichment needs and wishes on every campus in Sunnyvale School District with school-specific grants. In the fall, 2022-2023 SEF awarded $102,000 in funding to support after-school enrichment, arts and music, JEDI (justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion) resources, learning experiences (field trips, assemblies), outdoor classroom or garden spaces, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), and whole child wellness programs and resources.

Field trip support continues to be the most popular request from our schools, and SEF is proud to be able to help create more opportunities for students to get out and explore.

The various activities and resources funded by SEF school grants substantially benefit families and students who are socio-economically disadvantaged as well as English Language Learners, according to grantees.

According to school principals, 75% of the activities and resources SEF school grants support this school year would likely not have been possible without SEF’s support.

Grants to All 10 Schools for Equitable Outcome Teachers

 

In addition to our annual school grants, Sunnyvale Education Foundation is excited to provide $7,500 in funds for Equitable Outcome Teachers to use on materials for their new intervention classrooms on all 10 campuses this year! We are proud to help bring an enriched, high quality education to all students in Sunnyvale School District, including those who may have especially struggled with the challenges of the last year.

SEF congratulates Edy Mourtos on her new role as Assistant Superintendent,  Professional Learning and Instructional Support for the Santa Clara County Office of Education and thanks her for the years of partnership! We look forward to continuing our strong relationship with Cumberland Elementary with Interim Principal Laurie Carson and Cumberland Elementary PTA.

A HUGE thanks to everyone who has donated to help pay for a 5th grader to go to science camp! Thanks to people like you, we are 70% of the way to our goal of raising $5000 by May 24th. Seventy percent! This is great.

You can make a difference by donating today! Some Sunnyvale schools are still raising money to send their students to science camp, even though they’ve already attended. Your $100 donation could become $300 – $100 from you, $100 from SEF, and, if your employer does corporate matching, $100 from them! Every dollar you donate now will free another dollar for other school needs, like classroom supplies and teacher training.
